Why All The Hype On Tyler Perry Studios

Bigger than Warner Brothers, Walt Disney Studios and Paramount

The Tyler Perry Studios are, simply, huge. At 330 acres with 12 sound stages, Perry’s lot is bigger than Disney, Warner Bros. and Paramount’s studios in Burbank, California, combined.

He recently bought the 330-acre lot, formerly a military base, in Atlanta, Georgia, and created Tyler Perry Studios.

With the opening of his own studio, Tyler Perry has become the first African-American to own their own studio outright.

Tyler Perry has proven himself to be a role model in the African-American community over his decades-spanning career. He has 48 directing credits, 49 writing credits, and 41 acting credits on IMDB.

Potentially his most famous role came in the form of everyone’s favorite old black woman, Madea. The first Madea movie, Madea’s Family Reunion, was released in 2006 and the most recent one, A Madea Family Funeral, came out in 2019. Not very many people are able to spread one idea over 13 years and keep it funny.

The who’s who in Black Hollywood was there to help Perry celebrate. According to CBS, Spike Lee, Oprah Winfrey, Samuel L. Jackson and Beyoncé were in the house.
